Telegrams from Aintab and Marsovan report missionaries safe and protected. Am now able to report that all our 172 missionaries in Turkey are protected. Porte gives assurances tranquillity will soon be restored. I request that ships remain in the Mediterranean, and that commanders keep me advised of their anchorage.
