Barnum telegraphs American property destroyed in Harpoot $100,000 probably. I have notified the Porte would expect prompt payment for all damages when extent is known. Telegram states that shell burst in missionary house; that soldiers protected raiders and joined in plunder, and that multitudes were killed in that province. Persons of missionaries there protected.
