Sir: Referring to the claim known as the Hydrographic Commission of the Amazon, I have the honor to report I called the attention of the new Government here to this long-pending case, as per copy of note inclosed.

I respectfully asked the new minister for foreign relations, Dr. Porras, to be so kind as to present this case to the consideration of the Peruvian Congress, now in session, that it might receive its early attention.

Mr. Minister: I beg to again call the attention of your excellency’s Government most respectfully to the many notes from this legation regarding the claim of American citizens against Peru known as the Hydrographic Commission of the Amazon, and the unusual delay in its settlement.

I express the hope, Mr. Minister, that you will be so kind as to present this claim to the consideration of the present Congress, that it may receive its early attention.
