No. 658.]London, November 13, 1883. (Received November 27.)
Sir: Referring to my No. 652, of the 2d instant, I have the honor to acquaint you that I received a visit on the 10th instant from Police Inspector Littlechild, who gave me the following information, which the agents of the force had obtained at Letterkenny, county Donegal, Ireland, chiefly from the relatives of Patrick O’Donnell:
- 1.
- Patrick O’Donnell’s father’s name was Michael.
- 2.
- He is dead about eighteen years.
- 3.
- P. O’Donnell’s father was never a naturalized American citizen.
- 4.
- Whilst in America he lived in the State of Pennsylvania, chiefly at Philadelphia and up along the banks of the Delaware.
I communicated the substance of this information to you on the same day by a telegram in cipher, of which the following is a translation. [See telegram of November 10, printed ante.]
I have, &c.,
W. J. HOPPIN.
