Sir: With reference to your dispatch No. 591, of the 20th ultimo, transmitting a copy of a communication from the agent and consul-general of the British Government at Sofia, reporting his action in endeavoring to secure an amicable settlement of the difficulties between the American missionaries and the Bulgarian authorities at Sistova, I have to request you to convey” to proper quarter the thanks of this Government for the friendly and generous course of Her Majesty’s agent and consul-general at Sofia in relation to this matter.
