San José, Costa Rica, April 14, 1872. (Received May 4.)
Sir: Referring to my dispatch, No. 120, of the 13th of February last, I desire to state, in the same connection, that the electors to choose a President convened on the 7th of this month, and elected General Thomas Guardia President of this republic, to serve as such for four years from the 8th day of May next.
The day passed off quietly; no one appeared to take or feel any interest in what was being done, save the electors and the chiefs of the military of the country.
I have, &c.,
JACOB R. BLAIR.
