Sir: I thank you for your interesting despatch of the 4th of April, No. 446. The time which was limited for the execution of the convention for removing [Page 76] the French government tobacco will expire on the 23d. I give you a copy of a correspondence* that has arisen with regard to an extension of the time.

This suspension is made for that reason, and for that only.
